The 52nd Country Music Awards took place on Wednesday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Once again, Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley came back to host the SMA 2018. It was the pair’s eleventh time facilitating the show together.

It was a bustling night for Underwood, who performed notwithstanding the fabulous hosting. The show aired on ABC TV. Here are all the CMA 2018 highlights, big moments, and complete winners list. Read along

Here’s the list of winners at the CMA Awards.

  1. Male vocalist of the year: Chris Stapleton
  2. Entertainer of the year: Keith Urban
  3. Female vocalist of the year: Carrie Underwood
  4. Musician of the year: Mac McAnally
  5. Group of the year: Old Dominion
  6. Vocal duo of the year: Brothers Osborne
  7. Album of the year: “Golden Hour,” Kacey Musgraves
  8. Single of the year: “Broken Halos,” Chris Stapleton
  9. Music video of the year: “Marry Me,” Thomas Rhett
  10. Musical event of the year: “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright,” David Lee Murphy with Kenny Chesney
  11. New artist of the year: Luke Combs
  12. Song of the year: “Broken Halos,” Chris Stapleton



CMA 2018 Winners’ Highlights

  • The CMAs regarded the best in country music, with Chris Stapleton driving five nominations. Stapleton won three awards and he also was the first one to get the award for song of the year, “Broken Halos.” Stapleton also won the award for the best single of the year. While accepting his awards, he said,

“We wrote it about people who have gone long before their time and you know, I want to think about the people out in California right now and … dedicate [the award] to them.”

  • Keith Urban brought home the enormous honor of the night: the performer of the year. We weren’t able to control our joy as we see him breaking in tears while he said to Kidman,

“Baby girl, I love you so much.”

Moving forward, he also showed gratitude towards his children as he said,

“I want to thank my kids who put up with me being gone quite a bit and not getting to be as good of a dad as I’d like to be”

Late he thanked his fans,

 “… I love you so much, team, and amazing fans.”

  • Along with hosting the show, Carrie Underwood also won the award for the best female vocalist of the year. She accepted her award saying,

“It’s definitely interesting to try to sing with a basketball where my lungs and diaphragm used to be. I don’t know where they are now, they’re squished in there somewhere. This means so much, Thank you.”

  • Kacey Musgraves won the award for album of the year for “Golden Hour”. She presented her gratitude saying,

“This is really, really crazy timing because I just realized this morning – it sounds like a lot, 10 years ago today I moved to Nashville.”

She further thanked her colleagues, her family, and her husband, as well as her fans.

  • Mack McAnally won musician of the year award by Carrie Underwood.
  • Old Dominion won the vocal group of the year award. Matthew Ramsey accepted the award by thanking his fans and said,

“We’ll try and live up to this. We love you.”

  • Luke Combs won the new artist of the year award. He accepted the award and thanked saying,

“everybody in this room for inspiring me. God, I love country music, man.”

  2. Brad Paisley debuted his new song “Bucked Off”
  3. Kacey Musgraves performed “Slow Burn”
  4. Dierks Bentley and Brothers Osborne performed “Burning Man”
  5. Maren Morris, Mavis Staples, Morgane Stapleton, Marty Stuart, and Chris Stapleton performed “Friendship” followed by “Let Me Take You There”
  6. Garth Brooks performed “Stronger Than Me”
  7. Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess presented the vocal duo of the year
  8. Pistol Annies performed “Got My Name Changed Back”
  9. Luke Combs performed “She Got the Best of Me”
  10. Keith Urban sang “Never Comin Down”
  11. Midland performed “East Bound and Down” and pay tribute to Burt Reynolds (late)
  12. Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line performed “Meant to Be.”
  13. Ricky Skaggs along with his band, Kentucky Thunder, performed “Black Eyed Suzie”
  14. Later, Keith Urban joined Skaggs and they perform “Highway 40 Blues.”
  15. Brad Paisley also joined Skaggs and they performed “Country Boy”
  16. Carrie Underwood performed “Love Wins”
  17. Brett Young performed “Mercy” rendition
  18. Kelsea Ballerini performed “Miss Me More”
  19. Old Dominion performed “Hotel Key”
  20. Dan + Shay performed “Tequila”
  21. Lauren Alaina performed “Lesson in Leavin” and paid tribute to late Dottie West
  22. Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert performed “Drowns the Whiskey”
  23. Thomas Rhett performed “Life Changes
  24. Luke Bryan performed “What Makes You Country”. Later Chris Janson, Luke Combs, Cole Swindell, and other Country artists also joined Bryan on stage
  25. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood sang a jam and announced the pregnancy. Later they also revealed the baby gender and picked the name for the baby as well
