Nokia 5.1 Plus Specs, Price, and Release Date

Nokia was acquired by HMD global couple years ago. And they have propelled Nokia way more than any before. Nokia is producing amazing budget devices, one after another. A couple years in now Nokia has phones in every price range, extremely cheap phones like Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 2.1. Both of those dominate the $100 to $$130 price range. They both have amazing specs at that price range and not many phones compete with them. Then comes in the Nokia 5 series and 6 series. They released the Nokia 5.1 and it was pretty amazing, a cheap phone with a Full HD+ screen. The only phone with that resolution in that price.

Nokia 5.1 Plus Specifications and Features

The 5.1 and 5.1 Plus pack amazing hardware, both have an amazing screen in their own respect. The plus has a 19:9 screen but an HD+ one, the 5.1 doesn’t have an edge to edge screen like most phone these days. But it does have a 1080p screen which will be amazing to watch movies and videos on. They announced the 5.1 Plus on November 14.

Nokia 5.1 Plus AI and power

It is probably the only phone with this much and AI, at this price range. AI is getting very common among phones these days but in near flagship phones. AI technology improves every part of the phone from camera to processor. Machine Learning is the feature and it shows among the new phones. The advanced AI built into Nokia 5.1 plus’s chipset enables deep-learning face recognition and real-time photo enhancement. Equipped with all the essential sensors, you can experience the latest games and apps to their fullest. In addition, face recognition complements the inbuilt fingerprint security for fast unlocking and authentication.

The Nokia 5.1 plus is one of the cheapest smartphones powered by the most advanced MediaTek chipset yet, the MediaTek Helio P60. The engine has been designed to deliver enough power to handle gaming, video or multi-tasking applications easily.

The Nokia 5.1 plus’s advanced imaging allows you to capture studio style shots with depth-sensing imaging and selectable ‘bokeh’ blur, as well as portrait lighting. The dual 13MP/5MP rear sensor with electronic video stabilization helps ensure you film steady, sharp videos and perfectly capture your special moments with friends. Phase Detection Auto Focus can help your photos are clear and focused.

The Nokia 5.1 notch trend

The stunning edge-to-edge notched (5.8”) display gives fans maximum content with a minimal footprint. Nokia 5.1 plus features a pure design with 2.5D curved front and rear glass, complemented by curved edges and a high-gloss finish. At around 8mm thin, the ergonomic design with continuous curvature makes for the ultimate feel in the hand. Nokia 5.1 plus has a sturdy metal structure, quality tested in extreme temperatures and drop tested to ensure that it meets the exacting quality standards of a Nokia phone.

Nokia 5.1 Plus Android One program

The Nokia 5.1 plus will join the Android One family of Nokia smartphones, offering an experience designed by Google that is smart, secure and simply amazing. The Nokia 5.1 plus will stay up-to-date over time with three years of monthly security patches and two years of guaranteed OS updates after launch.

As with all Nokia smartphones in the Android One programme, you’ll get more battery and storage space out of the box thanks to a carefully curated set of pre-loaded apps. And you will stay ahead of the game with the latest Google services like the Google Assistant and Google Photos with free unlimited high-quality photo storage.

By shipping with Android Oreo™ out of the box, you’ll be able to enjoy the latest features, including Google Lens, picture-in-picture for multitasking, Google Play Instant to discover and run apps with minimal friction, and battery-saving features like limiting background app use. It is also ready for Android P.

Nokia 5.1 Plus Storage

The phone is only available in 3GB ram and 32Gb of space. 3GB ram would be enough for this phone because it has the android one program which optimizes ram usage. 32GB would be enough to download games and videos on this. You wouldn’t be downloading 1080p movies on this because it has a 720p screen. It will be able to handle every game though, and games on phone go up to 5gb+. But that’s a rare case and shouldn’t be that much of a problem.

Nokia 5.1 Plus Price and release date

The phone is very aggressively priced actually, it might drop later on. Currently, it’s at $150 it is a pretty good price for that screen and processor. The phone is released in China with the name Nokia X5, and with the announcement this month. The 5.1 plus will probably release next month everywhere else in the world.

Conclusion

For the price, the phone does come with mostly respectable specifications. However, the competition in this segment is no slouch, so Nokia has its work cut out for it. On paper at least, it seems the company has covered all bases, but we will have to see if that’s really the case. Nokia 5.1 Plus comes in a simple package that includes the phone, a standard 10W charger, and a Type-C cable. You will have to spend extra for a headset but don’t bother with a fast charger as the phone does not support that feature.
