Treat Your Body Right! Skin Glow Edition

Skin is not just there to make us look good. It has a much bigger role in our well-being than we can possibly imagine.

Our skin is the largest and most visible outer organ and as such it’s the shield against all the outside influences and infections. Skin too can be ill, dry or malnourished. By taking care of our skin we are not only making sure this protective layer is healthy and vital but we are also looking out for our overall health as well.

Taking care of our skin is possible and pretty easy, all you need to do is take a first step in the right direction. Additionally, taking care of our skin only when there is a problem is already too late.

Take care of your skin on time and regularly, keep it healthy and later in life your skin will be good to you.

Take a look at these 4 easy tips on how to take care of your skin and make it glow.

4 Easy Tips to Take Care of Your Skin and Make It Glow

Healthy diet

A way to help our skin glow is by paying attention to what we eat and drink. Minding our diet can help us keep our skin healthy and glowing.

The first and the most important thing when starting this healthy diet journey is to cut out refined sugar. This might prove to be difficult as sugar is everywhere but you can try replacing it with natural sweeteners. The next on the list of the things you should avoid is coffee and alcohol.

What you should eat is fruit, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Vitamin C, B, and D are very important for the health of our skin too. Daily intake of these vitamins can prevent acne, age spots, wrinkles, and other skin problems!

Treat your skin properly

Knowing how to take care of our skin properly is half a job done. This means knowing how to treat your skin, what to avoid and what to do.

Start by avoiding those long, hot showers or baths. Being in hot water for a longer time period can cause our skin to lose its protective oils and moisture. This means that you should shorten your shower time to 10 minutes and cool the water down a bit.

The soaps and hair products you use may clog your pores, irritate and dry out your skin. That’s why you should choose products with natural ingredients that have a milder effect on your skin.

When you’re done with the shower, gently pat your skin dry making sure that some moisture is still left on it.

If, by any chance, your skin is dry, moisturize it. Choose the moisturizer that fits your skin type and for daily use try getting a moisturizer with SPF.

Visit a skin-care specialist

Visiting a professional from time to time is the right thing to do. Getting various skin treatments and procedures will maintain your skin vital and healthy.

What you should know is that these treatments are not only for the skin of your face but also for the rest of your body’s skin. Some of the procedures and treatments include exfoliation, pore cleansing, hair removal, etc.

Additionally, the development in technology brought to us what we thought would never be possible – a way to remove those pesky stretch marks.

There are skin clinics today that offer an effective stretch mark removal treatment. The number of treatments necessary in order to see the results will depend on the thickness of your stretch marks and your recovery time. But the important thing is that after each treatment you will feel more confident and great in your skin again!

Protect your skin from sun exposure

When exposed to damaging UVA rays our skin starts to produce more melanin (melanin is a pigment that gives our skin color) which makes our skin darken. When the tan fades those cells move to the surface of our skin which means that they have basically been disposed of.

Too much sun exposure can also make our skin lose elasticity and with the loss of elasticity wrinkles, bags and sags are created.  And in the worst-case scenario, overexposure to the damaging UVA rays can cause skin cancer.

To avoid all of these situations, we need to take special care of our skin by applying SPF sunscreen every day. Another way to protect our skin from sun exposure is by eating lycopene-rich food such as tomatoes, papaya, watermelon, pink grapefruit and so on.

Drink a lot of water

Drinking water can help us rid our body of toxins and make our skin look radiant and younger. Because of this, drinking enough water every day is important. This means approximately 8 glasses of water per day will help get your skin to glow and even improve your complexion.

Of course, keep in mind that nothing happens overnight but if you start now you will notice the positive changes in your skin in no time.

And remember, drinking water is the easiest and cheapest way of keeping your skin healthy and radiant.

Keeping our skin healthy, vital and radiant isn’t all that difficult. Start with something simple as regular water intake and then gradually advance towards regular visits to a skin-care specialist. They say that skin remembers everything then make sure your skin remembers only the best from you!
